Linda, I see we have three goals to consider. I'm wondering how we will use the T-chart. If it is to record teacher testimonials, then what shall we provide for student testimonials? I developed the outline below to help view the whole picture. Your input is appreciated. (Linda G.) Started T-Chart but I'm so glad you asked Dr. M about it. To begin with, I took the chart and put what benefit each party received based upon what I saw as consensus between our notes. (I see us noticing similar things). As I look at your outline, perhaps what is in the T-Chart would be the details going into part B. We could almost split the writing up as follows: someone writes A. as an introduction and overview and writes her version of C., someone else writes B. based on contents of the T-Chart and the 4 components listed in A. and writes her version of C. We could post it on the First Draft page and discuss, revise and combine the Cs in a way that makes sense from there. Final question: where is our reading included? Tell me what you think. Linda M. Drake
A. Increase Awareness of the Benefits of Classroom Library Collaboration 1. students 2. classroom teachers 3. school librarians 4. administrators
B. Analyze Testimonials
C. Present Learnings
Feb. 5: Linda (D.), I was glad we were able to finally have an "old fashion" telephone conversation. Sharing our concerns and goals put me at ease. Just to reiterate our topics of converstion: 1. We've Accomplished steps 1-6 on the Steps4Success 2. You will develop Reading Notes Page 3. Begin writing Introduction (Gomez) 4. Begin ideas for body (Drake) 5. Wed. or Thurs. we should be on the Revise/Edit stage 6. Friday, polish & submit Final Draft 7. Assessing and Turning in our Project
Drake to submit pre-writing T-Chart URL and rubric with top portion completed
Gomez to submit paper.
Does everything check out okay?
P.S. I was thrilled to see your observations on the T-chart. Adding the column with the teacher names put everything into perspective. I'm an extremely visual learner and graphic organizers help me make sense of information. Thank you! Let's keep chugging along.
Feb 6:Thanks for adding the notes page. Just wanted to mention two things: perhaps we should NOT work on the wiki at the same time and I'm feeling bogged down with the note-taking to the point that I'm forgetting what we have to do again. There was a time tonight that I think we were both working on the notes page and I hope I didn't mess anything up that you were adding. If I did, I apologize. Tomorrow evening, I am going to work on writing and I will post to the "Draft" page. Call again if you need anything. Linda M. Drake Feb. 8: In response to your two comments. First, I had my suspicions about working on the Wiki simultaneously. While on the Wiki Notes Page I noticed your name appeared, but immediately disappeared. This explains why my end froze. No worries, I was able to recover and save. Second, I apologize if my notes are driving you insane. I don't plan on adding more. I did not record many quotes. Maybe you can add in that area. Lastly, Reading "The Learning Specialist..." has been a slow process for me. Your notes to this reading will be most helpful.
Feb 7: FYI, I discovered that when you copy & paste into what is already on the wiki, if you skip a line between what is there and what you want to edit, it does not alter the font and color of what is already saved. Don't know if you have been having as much fun with that aspect as I have been having! :( Feb. 8: I can't recall experiencing that. I'm composing my introduction and plan on adding it by tomorrow evening. I feel a migrane coming on, so I know I won't be burning the midnight oil. I'll touch base with you tomorrow via telephone. (L.Gomez)
Feb. 8: Did some writing (on Draft page). I tend to not know exactly what I want to say until I have gotten anything on paper. Then I'll go back and see if that is what I meant. Added some notes and quotes as requested. At 20 pages, this article was a little repetitive after the other readings so I understand that it was a slow read! Talk to you tomorrow around 7ish?
Feb. 9: Made some adjustments to T-chart and Reading Notes page as we discussed. T-chart: what we had on our "Notes" page and what we had on the chart was redundant. I think the way the information was put into the chart with the citations is closer to the rubric. Reading Notes: just made sure it was in the format you had (quotes with quotes). I think I have hit my "wall" this evening. Plan to be back at it tomorrow evening around 6 p.m.
